Top the winter program off with a Freedom Trip.
Each year, the Freedom Riders (with families in tow or solo) take a journey to one of the country’s top resorts, Mammoth Mountain.
Mammoth is known for its steps and deeps: steep slopes, deep powder and miles of challenging runs. More than 3,500 acres of skiable terrain and 26+ chair lifts make Mammoth one of the largest resorts in the country. The varied terrain is more than enough to keep the seasoned expert challenged in addition to the thrill seeker just starting out.
There are four unbound snowboard parks and dollar racecourses, not to mention solitude in out-of the-way runs and mountains deep powder, and mountains as far as you can see.
If you’re not a ski or snowboard enthusiast, there are still plenty of activities. Cross-country ski or snowshoe out to the frozen, serene Twin Lakes, take a sunset dogsled ride to Minaret Vista, or snowmobile around on one of the many scenic trails in and out of the Town of Mammoth Lakes.
For the more adventurous type, there is always inter-tubing, snow-angel making and the ever popular snowball fight.
The trip is flexible for individuals and families alike. You choose whether the family comes or the Freedom Rider rides solo. You’ll have options on hotel and condo situations as well as options for instruction. You choose your own way to be a Freedom Rider!
In Los Angeles, we’ll board a luxury bus on Friday that will take us all the way to Mammoth. On the journey, we’ll watch movies, relax and have loads of fun, anticipating the weekend ahead. Late Sunday, after an exhilarating weekend of skiing and boarding, we’ll board the bus again and head back to Los Angeles, regaling one another with stories of our adventures with our Freedom family.
On the mountain, kids will be paired with a Mammoth Resort Instructor, under the supervision of Freedom program director, Gilad Lewandovski. The group will meet up for lunches and dinners to share stories of their Freedom adventures.
The Freedom Trip is a great way to share a passion for fun in the snow with your own family and to share the experience with other families. It’s a weekend full of adventure, fun and memories you won’t want to miss!
